USA Lecture Tour 2026 – Stop #4: Dayton, Ohio

The miles were starting to add up, the accents were changing from state to state, and what had once been an idea on a piece of paper was now very much real.

After fantastic stops in Pensacola, Atlanta and Huntsville, it was time to continue north for the fourth stop of my USA Magic Lecture Tour 2026 — Dayton, Ohio.

By this point in the tour, something had started to change.

The nerves I’d felt before setting off were gradually being replaced by excitement. Each new city meant a new room, a new group of magicians and another opportunity to share the magic that I’ve spent years creating and performing.

And Dayton certainly didn't disappoint.

A Brilliant Welcome in Ohio

One of the things that has struck me most about touring America is the warmth of the magic community.

You can travel hundreds of miles, arrive somewhere you've never been before and walk into a room filled with people you've never met — yet within minutes, you're talking about magic as though you've known each other for years.

Dayton was another perfect example of that.

From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel incredibly welcome. There was a real enthusiasm in the room, not only for the tricks themselves but for the thinking, psychology and stories behind them.

For me, that's what a good magic lecture should be.

It shouldn't simply be a demonstration of effects.

It should be a conversation about why they work, how they've developed and, most importantly, how we can turn a trick into something an audience will actually remember.

Sharing My Magic Across the Atlantic

Standing in front of a room of American magicians and performing material that began life back home in Wales is still a slightly surreal experience.

During the lecture I was able to share a selection of my own creations, ideas and approaches to performing — including material that has travelled with me from close-up performances in the UK to conventions, lectures and now venues across the United States.

Some effects get an immediate laugh.

Others create that wonderful moment where the room suddenly goes quiet.

And occasionally you look around and see magicians giving each other that expression that simply says:

"Hang on… how did he do that?"

Those moments never get old.

But what I enjoy even more is what happens afterwards.

The conversations.

People coming over to discuss an idea, asking about a particular piece of thinking or explaining how they might adapt something they've seen to suit their own performing style.

That's when you realise that a lecture has connected.

More Than Just Another Stop

Dayton was stop number four on the schedule, but I was quickly learning that I didn't want this tour to become a collection of dates that simply blurred into one another.

Every city has its own personality.

Every magic club has its own characters.

And every audience reacts slightly differently.

That's what makes touring so fascinating.

You might perform the same piece hundreds of miles apart and discover a completely different moment within it because of the people sitting in front of you.

Those are the things you can't learn from a book or a video.

You learn them by performing.

Four Stops Down…

Leaving Dayton, there was barely time to stop and think about everything that had happened.

Four cities.

Four lectures.

Hundreds more miles on the road.

And still a long way to go.

The next stop would take me to Indianapolis, Indiana, as the USA Lecture Tour continued its journey across America.

What had started with a flight from Wales and a suitcase full of magic was becoming one of the most memorable experiences of my career.

And the adventure was only just getting started.
